Roles:
In the second stage of the reform of the postal system which came into effect on 1 January 1995, Deutsche Bundespost businesses were turned into public limited companies known as Deutsche Telekom AG, Deutsche Post AG and Deutsche Postbank AG. The Federal Institute for Post and Telecommunications was established as a public-sector body to protect the rights and obligations relating to the public limited companies emerging from the partial special assets of the Deutsche Bundespost under the Post and Telecomnunications Reorganisation Act.
