Extension of the areas of responsibility of the Tax Information Centre
Since August 2006, the Tax Information Centre of the Federal Central Tax Office has been providing first level support in dealing with general enquiries relating to tax relief for tax deducted at source, capital gains tax relief, the European Union Savings Directive and the VAT registration number. This specifically concerns enquiries about responsibilities, application and administrative procedures and statutory provisions.
With effect from 1 December 2006, the Tax Information Centre is also offering general support for information on VAT refunds by the Federal Central Tax Office.
The Tax Information Office can be contacted by telephone (+49 1888 406 1200), fax (+49 1888 406 3200) or through the website ( www.steuerliches-info-center.de ). Telephone enquiries are answered Mondays to Thursdays from 08.00 to 18.00 hrs. and Fridays from 08.00 to 16.00 hrs.
A service providing a central point of contact for foreign investors is in preparation for Spring 2007. As an important central function, it will also include the provision of binding information to foreign applicants for whom no domestic tax office is responsible.
